What aspects influence person the most: virtue, instinct, or personal value?
sub question1: What is the difference between personal value and virtue?
Personal value is determined by our own thoughts but virtue is decided by the society or the majority. We also believe that personal values are more subjective that there can be some of controversy regarding the values. On the other hand, virtues are widely believed by many people, thus tends to have less controversy within.
sub question2: Why are we influenced?
We are influenced because we need some sort of belief to live on. We concluded that people are inclined to fear the unknowns, and depend on something when bad events occur. As a result, people tend to have certain kinds of beliefs and depend on it, meaning that they are easily influenced. In addition, people, usually in the crowd, are easily influenced by each other in order to conform to the trend and beliefs.
sub question3: Can personal value be based on the instinct?
We think that personal values can be based on the instinct because there are certain cases that people think instinct as their virtues. For instance, love, which is our instinct, is one of the virtues we strive for.
sub question4: Who decides the virtue/ good and bad?
We decided that virtue, or good and bad, is decided by society rather than individual. What people believe personally should be personal values instead of virtue. We also think that virtue is widely accepted by the society or culture for long period of time, thus penchant to have less controversy. As a result, people in different places tend to have distinguished standards for good and bad.
What aspects influence person the most: virtue, instinct, or personal value?
We think, after answering all the leading questions of this one, that virtue influences us the most. We are exposed to so many ideas, propagandas, religions, media, and more that we cannot avoid being influenced by them even a small amount. Our instinct and personal value do affect us as well, but not as much as virtue. We do not live the world ourselves, but with many people and variety of environments that can push our minds and virtues this way and that. Although we tend to be a transcendentalist, it is a challenging task that those are the minorities.
