When i saw the title Beowulf based on what ms Boyd told us I thought the poem would be heroic poem of lower class man that helps the Civil war to happen and win the Civil war, but as I read on the story I found out Beowulf is the upper class noble, which gave me unexpected punch in the face making me interested to the book

When I first saw the title "Beowulf", I thought that the story would be in around the medieval times (?) I also thought that it would be about a king/hero named Beowulf who would go on an adventure & do something so great that he would be known all around the country.

I may be wrong but for me, when I saw the title Beowulf, I thought it was going to be like Don Quixote. Since the suffix beo- meant "bee", the story is going to be about a series of events of a belligerent but goofy man, with his "sharp weapon", who enjoys getting involved in imaginary battles running around like a bee. At the end, he saves a random girl and get slapped in the face.

I believe that Beowulf will be a poem similar to Hercules and other Greek mythology stories. Frankly, from the title, when i first heard it, i thought it was going to be about some great wolf or something, and reading all the other comments, i guess i wasn't the only one.

Welp, I have seen a bit of movie long time ago so I can't make predictions about Beowulf. Unintentional spoilers... But I'll just say my thoughts after reading a few pages of it. After reading the first part, I think Beowulf is a typical heroic poem, in which there is a ferocious, strong villain and the hero saves the day. But I still don't understand yet why Beowulf should be considered as a hero. Is defeating Grendel enough for making him a hero? Would there be other events that would challenge Beowulf? What I predict about the ending of this poem is that Beowulf would die during a battle with someone(or thing) powerful. After all, most mortal heroes face glorious or honorable death, instead of dying from disease or age. Someone who dies with honor is more likely to be remembered longer.
