In our class, Ms. Boyd made us think about human nature. What is it? Can it be changed? You don't have to answer one of these specific questions, but rather what are your thoughts about it.
For me, I think human nature is closely related to human instincts, like our basic needs for survival. Hunger would be human nature because we need food to survive just as fear would be human nature because we fear death. Instincts I believe are the most apparent common characteristic among all humans. None of us don't have them. Some might as well be able to overcome them but to be completely without them would be considered as non-human.
This is just my own personal idea. So, what are yours?

I agree with the idea human nature involves humans' desire to survive. So I came up with a similar idea: humans are naturally selfish. In order for humans to survive, they have compete with others, care about themselves to be successful, and basically put ourselves as a priority. I think this is why learning character traits and what is moral or not is very important. For example, if we don't learn about integrity and its importance, we'll always be dishonest to others in order to be successful and "survive." In order to feed myself, I need a job. So why not create all sorts lies on my resume or secretly kill several people working there to get myself a job. In conclusion, we are selfish as a human being and therefore learn in order to suppress such human instinct for a peaceful society

While I do not agree completely with what you guys said. I do think that many of our human nature comes from the desire to survive. Our selfishness, greed would be our negative natures, inborn in us in order to survive. Our love and care for the other would be positive natures that allows us to survive in groups, form societies and our desire to be recognized by many. And sometimes I do think that these natures can change, since our human origins were usually independent, but now we are forming groups in order to survive and not think about selfish needs. I am not sure on that though.

Human nature to me is something that you are born with even though you aren't taught to do so. For example, being happy or sad is not something you learn from. Fear, love, and more are also part of human nature. The question that whether these can be changed cannot have one specific answer because it really depends of the person and his or her environment. They might not be influenced at all or be completely affected by something or someone. It's a hard question to answer because my answers will be conflicted by my own thoughts too.

To me, human nature is a set of instincts that make people to behave and think in a certain way. I think human nature can change as people mature. For example, it is normal to fear if one fails a test. Also, a person who was normally kind can be violent after the life-changing accident. I think humans are naturally evil at birth, but become good as they learn ethics and morals.

I think that human nature is the ego of a person. A ego is what makes a person have personality and what makes defines them clearly. Human nature is the drive that moves a person into action because they have some belief that they must do this actions to prevail themselves. The ego is the factor that allows people to reveal their human nature to themselves.

For me, human nature is the basic needs that people in their lives. For example, people need enough sleep, food, and good relationships in order to survive. Humans are born to survive in any kind of situations. They can also betray another if they have to survive. I think human nature is both beneficial and non-beneficial to humans.

People's thoughts on human nature can differ by each and every individual. However, it is generalized with the concept of surviving. Human nature is the ascribed characteristics human tend to naturally have. For example, homeless looking for food is a great example of survival of the fittest. Homeless people adapt eating food that are left behind or thrown away because they need to survive to avoid death from starving. It is kind of a negative example; but it surely is a great example to show that the ones who can adapt will survive. I think human nature can not change because even though someone real nice and good stands on the cliff of the mountain, they show their natural instincts and will do anything to survive. (Except in a condition where some sort of agreement is made).
