So me and Sergey were skyping and suddenly we came across the subject of "Woud we live in Beowulf's time?" With all the dragons and adventure out there, the possibilities are limitless. And I just thought that it would be a very interesting topic to talk about.
As for me though, I would not live in the era or the world of Beowulf. Although I would very much like to watch and observe all the mystical creatures and observe great men of legends, I just think that it would be too much of a risk. I am very satisfied with my life. However, I do think that the sound of adventure sounds interesting. Maybe I will try to live for a day or two, but not for my whole life.
So what do you guys think? would you live in Beowulf's era/world? As for me only a temporary stay would be perfect.

I think that living in that kind of a world would be amazing as well, but I don't want to face creatures like Grendel because that would be too scary. Being able to see dragons and other mystical creature sounds amazing, but I would like to take any kind of risk living in a different dimension with those beasts and creatures. And in that world, people would mostly have to be knights or serve the kingdom. More than monarchy, I would prefer to live my life with pleasant democracy and a free life.

For me, it depends on whether you mean to live in that time for the rest of my life or just for a temporal amount of time but guessing that you meant the first case, then I would not like to live in Beowulf's time. I have two main reasons. The first is that it is just too risky. Grendel suddenly appears one day, destroy everything in his path, and kills people whoever he desires. And the country's soldiers are so helpless that they can't really do much anything about it but depend on the hands of a foreign hero. I would feel too insecure to live in a country that can't even protect itself and to know that such a powerful evil being is lurking out there, perhaps waiting to end my life. My second reason is that I'm a very practical and realistic man, meaning, I would not give up the niceties that technology provides us today. There would be no AC in the Old English times, no cars to take me around, and especially no smart phones to help me kill my time. If I was simply born in such a time, then I may have just continued on with my rural life but to live a simple life while knowing that such pleasant gadgets and services exist, it would be too hard for me.

I would not have liked to live in Beowulf's time. It is too dangerous to live in that time period. There is no way that I would live in a time where there are, like jooyoung says, too many risks. For example, you never know when a dragon might come & murder you. Sure it might be fun to go on heroic adventures like Beowulf, but, he lives with risks. He might die any day by taking the risks he takes everyday.

It is absolutely hard to me to give up on all of those modern and convenient inventions such as internet, air condition and ps4. But if i could choose to live in Beowulf's in a short period of time, i will go. It seems adventurous and interesting to me to live among all of those mythological creatures. Imaging one day you will ride a unicorn in a hunt of dragon like Harry Porter.

I would not live back in time especially when I am used to all kinds of technologies in modern time period. It may sound cool to hear all kinds of adventures and dragons from the past, but if I were to actually live in that era I think it would have been nothing but the pain in the back. First of all, I cannot certainly say that I would have a high social standard where everybody look upon me. Although it sounds amazing to receive all kinds of respect all around the world, but i will get used to it and eventually it will get dull. Secondly, I do not want to risk my life on some weird creatures like Grendel and mythical dragon which by the way even killed the almighty hero Beowulf.

I would like to live in Anglo-Saxon time for only one day. I don't want to live in England in this time because first of all, I don't get to do internet. There would be no Facebook and kakaotalk, and I think that is horrible. Well, there would be also other entertainments in England, but internet is important to me.
But I would like to visit there for few days to learn about their culture. I would like to attend to the mead-hall and observe how people sing, dance and drink. In addition, the objects used in this time period will be very different from what we are using right now. For instance, the shape of a cup and chair will be different. In this way, I want to experience their culture and values.
Moreover, I want to see mythical animals, like JYP said. I want to see alive dragons, and other mythical animals. I would be scared to death but I think it would be a great experience. I would love to get a sample of dragon's skin or its organ to find out what is it made of, too. I think those mythical animals would be composed differently from human in that they are so strong and powerful. I can also write this in my resume that I travelled time and actually conducted an experiment to find out what are monsters made of. I think it would be fun.

I am not sure that "do I want to live in the Beowulf's time?".For me,it is pretty hard to live in the past, which means the period of Beowulf. We all live in the modern time, we use electric devices a lot so I cannot imagine without cellphones without computers. It sounds adventurous to live in the Beowulf's time,in other hand,it is so dangerous to live there. If only living in there 10 days,I will try and experience how do people live in that time, but nor for living forever.

I would stay in short time. I'm curious about monsters in Beowulf are how look like. However, I do not think I would survive if monster attack my town. That's why I would not stay long time just only 2 or 3 days is enough.

If i were to live in Beowulf's time period…. i wouldn't survive on the first day… -_- according to the story, the successful characters seem to be militaristic and physically strong I would definitely have trouble lifting up a sword… not to mention, i'll need to be using it to cut through the tough leather of monsters to protect myself … it might just be my current state or age, but i definitely wouldn't want to be drinking alcohol, not because of my parent's advices or public consensus, but because of the awful taste of any alcoholic beverages >< ><ewwww i wouldn't be welcomed into the Mead-hall…!!!! i'll be like Grendel! i might leave the nation and live in solitary, then i'll meet Grendel! and we share similar circumstances, so we gonna be friends! OHHHHHH i can prevent Grendel's death because he wouldn't be lonely any more~ we can have our own party of two……. hehe

I would say no because I do not find the way people in the Beowulf's era raise reputation ideal. They mainly engage in battle and defeat other nation or people in order to be recognized. In other words, they have to be skillful at killing. I believe that kind of spirit is fairly two-dimensional without any significant depth in perception. Things people valued at that time really do not match with mine.

I personally think living in Beowulf's era would be very risky and dangerous. Not only demons exists, but also unknown threats such as curses and other mysterious creatures exists. As said in the book dragons will roar fires and destroy our house and demon called Grendel has killed many people over 15 years. This has showed me how dangerous Beowulf's world is and has told me that living in this world will be same as committing suicide.

I'm not sure whether I'll choose to live at Beowulf's era. But I think there'll be both positive and negative things about living at that time. First, I think education isn't as important as it is today in order to successful. But at the same time, it wouldn't be easy to succeed in that the society is made up of social hierarchy or classes. If I were a king, I would definitely enjoy my life way much more there. Second, I agree with the assumption that the world would be pretty dangerous and there are all sorts of mythical creatures. So I would have to think about my survival more than I do today especially because Korea is so safe. In addition, there would be wars between the kingdoms so I'll probably die. In conclusion, if I get to become a king, I would live in the time.

I don't want to live in Beowulf's time because there is no technology. Since I am used to smartphones, computer games, and watching movies, I think I can't live in that time. It will be really boring to live in that time. Also those time will be really dangerous because there were a lot of wars and weird creatures. So I will just chose to live in peaceful time rather than going back to Bewoulf's time
