Would you live in Beowulf's time?

For me, it depends on whether you mean to live in that time for the rest of my life or just for a temporal amount of time but guessing that you meant the first case, then I would not like to live in Beowulf's time. I have two main reasons. The first is that it is just too risky. Grendel suddenly appears one day, destroy everything in his path, and kills people whoever he desires. And the country's soldiers are so helpless that they can't really do much anything about it but depend on the hands of a foreign hero. I would feel too insecure to live in a country that can't even protect itself and to know that such a powerful evil being is lurking out there, perhaps waiting to end my life. My second reason is that I'm a very practical and realistic man, meaning, I would not give up the niceties that technology provides us today. There would be no AC in the Old English times, no cars to take me around, and especially no smart phones to help me kill my time. If I was simply born in such a time, then I may have just continued on with my rural life but to live a simple life while knowing that such pleasant gadgets and services exist, it would be too hard for me.

It is absolutely hard to me to give up on all of those modern and convenient inventions such as internet, air condition and ps4. But if i could choose to live in Beowulf's in a short period of time, i will go. It seems adventurous and interesting to me to live among all of those mythological creatures. Imaging one day you will ride a unicorn in a hunt of dragon like Harry Porter.

I would like to live in Anglo-Saxon time for only one day. I don't want to live in England in this time because first of all, I don't get to do internet. There would be no Facebook and kakaotalk, and I think that is horrible. Well, there would be also other entertainments in England, but internet is important to me.

But I would like to visit there for few days to learn about their culture. I would like to attend to the mead-hall and observe how people sing, dance and drink. In addition, the objects used in this time period will be very different from what we are using right now. For instance, the shape of a cup and chair will be different. In this way, I want to experience their culture and values.

Moreover, I want to see mythical animals, like JYP said. I want to see alive dragons, and other mythical animals. I would be scared to death but I think it would be a great experience. I would love to get a sample of dragon's skin or its organ to find out what is it made of, too. I think those mythical animals would be composed differently from human in that they are so strong and powerful. I can also write this in my resume that I travelled time and actually conducted an experiment to find out what are monsters made of. I think it would be fun.

I would stay in short time. I'm curious about monsters in Beowulf are how look like. However, I do not think I would survive if monster attack my town. That's why I would not stay long time just only 2 or 3 days is enough.

I would say no because I do not find the way people in the Beowulf's era raise reputation ideal. They mainly engage in battle and defeat other nation or people in order to be recognized. In other words, they have to be skillful at killing. I believe that kind of spirit is fairly two-dimensional without any significant depth in perception. Things people valued at that time really do not match with mine.

I'm not sure whether I'll choose to live at Beowulf's era. But I think there'll be both positive and negative things about living at that time. First, I think education isn't as important as it is today in order to successful. But at the same time, it wouldn't be easy to succeed in that the society is made up of social hierarchy or classes. If I were a king, I would definitely enjoy my life way much more there. Second, I agree with the assumption that the world would be pretty dangerous and there are all sorts of mythical creatures. So I would have to think about my survival more than I do today especially because Korea is so safe. In addition, there would be wars between the kingdoms so I'll probably die. In conclusion, if I get to become a king, I would live in the time.
