Why were men considered superior than women back in Victorian Era? It is true that most men are physically stronger than women. Did it give men the right to be superior?

I guess at that time what most people have to do was protecting their country so mens could work for it so that's why.

Because back in Victorian era, it was part of culture that women had to stay in household and take care of children and chores while men had to work outside. Men had the economic power, so it was natural that men had more power over women.

The history tracks way before the Victorian Era. Men were considered superior for a long time since agricultural revolution. As people shifted from nomadic life to settled life, people started to have fixed tasks. Men hunted and women managed children and her house. This culture continues up until today (with some changes).

I agree with Misato's opinion. there is still war, but it seems like war was happened very often long time ago. It could be said that in Victoria Era. That means society naturally encourage men more than women because men fought for their countries.

I agree with Woojong that back in Victorian era, it was part of culture that women had to stay in household and take care of children and chores while men had to work outside. Men had the economic power, so it was natural that men had more power over women. However, it changed? I think we live in the generation where women and belong everywhere and have the same right and equality.

Men have been the dominant creature for the past centuries. It all started because men were physically stronger than women. I think that is the biggest reason why. It didn't necessarily grant the right for men to be superior, but it was the belief for the past centuries.

At this time period, there was a stereotype that the women were inferior to men. Women in Victorian era had very little power. Victorian era was famous for Industrial revolution. Lives of people became more comfortable due to mass production of goods. Because people’s lives became much comfortable, themes of peace, prosperity, and patriotism started to gain interest. However, in the other hand, there were poverty, child labor, and unfair class system that consisted of working class, middle class, and upper class.

I think it is because men are physically stronger than women. However, there is nothing a women cannot do that a man can do in my opinion. I don't think men being scientifically stronger than women should give them the right to be superior. Not all men are strong as not all women are weak.
