We all worked on researching about the author of our piece of literature, his time period, and analyzing the literature. So, during your research, have you found anything interesting worth sharing? For me, I found that my author, Dylan Thomas, lived during the time of modernist literature. It was a time when the trend was to go away from the traditional Romantic form and try something new. However, Thomas kept with the traditional Romantic themes, being different from his contemporaries. He stuck to the old. So how about you? What do you have to share?

I learned many things about the time period, which was victorian period. In this period, there was Industrial Revolution where factories were founded and mass production became important and profitable. However, urbanization, poverty, and child labor emerged. Everyone was looking for a job to earn money for living. .

My story is The Descent of the Man by Charles Darwin. He is actually in our biology text book as well, and I used it as my one of the sources. Something interesting about my story is that this is actually scientific journal. This is not really a story or poem where it is full of literary devices and symbolisms. Mine is more about science, idea and theory itself. The story overall states that we are all from the humble animals, like monkeys, marsupials and more. But people during this time were not willing to admit the theory. Church was one of them. I will further explain that tomorrow in the class. Another interesting fact is that there were other scientists who had similar theory as Charles Darwin. He was not the first one to come up with evolutionary theory. There were few other scientists who had similar ideas and influenced Darwin. I will explain that again in the class.
There were other interesting things about Charles Darwin and the theory of natural selection. Now we think of it as common sense, but at that time, it was not. I thought it would be very hard for people during his time period to go against their beliefs and common senses and believe in natural selection.

First of all, i didn't watch the movie Interstellar. It was interesting to see that my poem, Do not go gentle into that good night, was in the movie. I had no idea that this poem was that famous before researching. Also, I learned that Dylan Thomas died of young age due to heavy drinking and other medical problems. It was weird to see him suffer financially despite the fact that his works were very successful.

I don't remember much, but I remember my author lived during the time period of the Italian Renaissance. We know some famous people from this time period such as Leonardo Da Vinci. I thought it was cool that my author was with these famous people because I knew nothing about my author.

I have a very interesting fact about my author, Charles Dickens. In one of his novels, he ended it with a character hanging off a cliff and from this literature the phrase cliff hanger originated.

I learned that Victorian Era was named after the queen Elizabeth because it was during her reign. I thought it had another connotation...

I learned that people during world war were very against war, i mean i knew about people not liking war and all, but many people were discouraged and blamed church for that. Christianity was used as an excuse to send young soldiers to die, one of the soldiers was my author Siegfried Sassoon who later became an activist against war.

I found out that one of the reasons Wordsmith (who wrote the world is too much with us) likes writing about people's disconnection with nature because he was brought up during Industrial Revolution and he lived in villages for a long time due to family's financial crisis
