For our homework, we had to read like 20 pages of the papers that Ms. Boyd gave us. I learned many things in this packet, about ballad. I won't say all of them since there are so many and you guys need to write something on the comment lol.
First of all, I learned that Romantics period was in the time of Industrial Revolution, French revolution, American revolution, European expansion. These movements influenced the poets a lot. In addition, Romantic ballads focused on senses not love, as we thought. I thought it was surprising that many of the people tried to be poets, like the star nowadays. As a result, the quality of poems lowered, some people said. There were female poets as well who wrote many influential poems as well.
So what did you guys learn about the Romantic period and ballad?

I learned that The Romantic period, though by far the shortest is at least as complex and diverse as any other period in British literary history. Politics has often provided a framework for Romantic period. During these times,England was experiencing the ordeal of change from a primarily agricultural society to a modern industrial nation. Women in the Romantic period were provided lonely limited schooling.

It changed a lot throughout time as people's ideas changed through revolutions. Now, everything wasn't just plain truth and facts but fictional elements such as fantasy were added later on as the public's taste changed.

I learned that ballads have regular meter, refrain, repetition, and stanzic form. This genre was made to rehabilitate disorder during that time period. After reading this packet, I felt that ballad writers were significant because they made a new genre of literature instead of falling into despair.

I learned that in England, ballad maintained a strong presence throughout three centuries. I also learned that when the Romantic poets came along, they found a suitable form for their lilting verbal melodies, and turned the ballad into a writer's sport.

I learned that ballad is used as dancing song and people usually turn those poems into music which is really interesting. Also, we learn the culture and custom at the time through those poem because each of the ballad tells us a story that stores cultural characteristic.

I never knew that ballad was a type of poem. I didn't know that some words at the end of the lines would rhyme.

Through reading 20 p.g I learned that ballad at past time and now is similar. Basically ballad is something about love and this came from romantic period. Usually ballad can be formed as poem, song, and literature too.

The most simplest way of describing a ballad is I guess, it tells a story or shows a picture which allows the audience to connect with the piece of art better and deeply.

I knew what ballad was, but I didn't know that it could be any kind of song that has a story.
