I think we can learn that there was social hierarchy, for ex: Marriage between high class and middle class was not approved simply because middle class was not high enough to marry the upper class. I think it's all due to mixing bloodlines as royal blood must be mated only with royal blood.

i find out that people at that time play tennis, and only the upper class have the money to watch it. Additionally, people's background is really important that the right alternate form of address is based on to show respect.

Here are some culture I can find: levirate marriage or marriage between a man with his brother's widow is pretty common, most people follow christianity beliefs, men wore proper, decent clothing, people should marry others in the same hierarchy system (e.g. Hamlet being a prince, shouldn't marry a common woman, Ophelia), women sew in their free time (e.g. Ophelia), men go to universities to study, people watch plays, etc.

Fencing is one of the sports royal families played in Europe. Guess it can be noticed as a culture.

I found that they have educational institutions during the time too, especially universities. This was only for the elite or the rich however because education was not common during the time.

They had plays. Actors were very professionally trained to act out their roles whenever they are supposed to do. They traveled around.

What I learned about the culture from my monologue is that there was a concept of "manliness", that men must be strong and powerful. In the play, Claudius scolds Hamlet for mourning the death too much, saying that Hamlet is not being "manly".

In my monologue part, I found some Roman cultural parts. Horatio was using the story of Julius Caesar as an example to tell bad thing will happen because they saw ghost. Julius Caesar is from Rome.

There are so many parts in the Hamlet that showed its culture. First of all, the marriage between different classes was hard. We can infer this in the part where Polonius told Ophelia to stop like Hamlet because he is the prince of the Denmark; he would choose Denmark over Ophelia. Secondly, people in Denmark often drank the mixture of wine and milk. We could detect this in the part where King Hamlet used comparison to the mixture of wine and milk to the poison that spread to his body and killed him.
The big thing in the play is the religion. First of all, they are all Christian. They pray and ask for forgiveness in order to go to heaven. They believe in afterlife: hell, heaven and purgatory. In addition, people think that their sin can be purged by simply praying. As a result, I think people would commit crime and just ask for forgiveness without feeling much guilt.

From the culture, I can tell that this is era when there was still the system of monarchy and that people were at a desperate state because they wanted to gain power very badly. There are also plays in the streets.

At the time of Hamlet, men had more power than women because in the past only men used to be king and have control of power in government. Also Hamlet's background is not from England so men might have more power in his country.
