A witch that I know would be the witch from the "The Witch" by Roald Dahl. The witch in this story changed a boy into a rat with a magic potion. That is very much like dark magic kind of thing.

I remember witch from Hensel and Gretel because it was very impressive that witch died easily. After reading that book, I thought that witch is not smart person because that witch died very easily. Usually witches are shown as very evil character and i think so too but I think they are not smart enough to be very evil.

Maleficent from sleeping beauty is a witch that i can think of. She possess supernatural powers. Maleficent in the disney story, is depicted as the antagonist who condemned Sleeping Beauty into eternal sleep. She also turned into a dragon while fighting against the prince. Demonstrating such witch craft, she was feared in the story. I think that all witches including Maleficent are fears by people; therefore subject people to violence towards people with certain traits. For instance, people who are old with abnormal characteristics will be accused of being a witch.

There are all different kinds of witches in the world. There are old, ugly, horrible witches, such as the the Wicked Witch, from Wizards of Oz. There are pretty, kind witches such as the Good Witch, from the Wizards of Oz. There are pretty, but horrible witches, like, Malificent, Snow White's Queen, etc. There are ugly, but kind witches, such as...i don't remember now, but there are witches out there that are like that. It just depends on the perspective of how people see witches.

The witches I remember are generally from animations by Disney, or movies. The traditional black hat and black robes with brooms and cats and dark magic. Warts and always a woman, there were no male witches. These were my general thoughts and ideas about witches. And as time went by, I did not associate witch with evil, maybe its because of works like Harry Potter and other works are changing the general views of a witch. It's like how Twilight has changed our view of vampires. And magicians were common themes in fantasy which further made the witch an idol of cool sorcery rather than evil.

I think the only well-known witch I'm more familiar with is the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz. Very cliche.. I know, but it's probably the first story I've read with a witch involved.

When I think about witches, I think about old ladies in black gown and a sorcerer hat with a broom stick.

Not sure whether you guys have read the novel called "Witches." It deals with the mysteries of the witches and how they interact with the real world. The protagonist of the novel accidentally observes a secret meeting of the witches and learn about their schemes, how they manipulate the world. That was the only witch novel I have said so far!

Witches from Harry potter. When I was young I wanted to join with them. They gave us people to dreams. Some witches from the movie is not good but mostly good witches.

The witches we know now days is very different form the past. Witches know days is more depicted as a woman that seduces people, but in back in the old days they were ugly outcast. When Witch crafting was common at that time people with no evidence of what they were doing at that time was usually pointed out as witches, the only reason they were pointed out was, because they had no idea what they were doing, due to reason they were outcast. Some example of know days witches can be formal witches we see in games and movies. The witches now days is more on the devil than a human that goes and hurts people they hate.
