Since we were exposed to the idea of witch from our childhood, we know so many witches! For instance, there were so many witches in the Disney movies. I think these witches are generalized witches that we usually think of, except for the Queen in the Snow white who was as beautiful as Snow white. I'm not sure if she was a witch or not but at least she had some kind of magical power to talk to the mirror and change her appearance.
Another witch I can think of is Wizard of Oz. The story as a whole deals with magic and witches.
What witches do you know?

I think all the witches are similar. They are trying to kill or framed the main character in that story or movie.I do not know if you guys heard Enchanted before or not.It is one of my favorite movies. It is really interesting.Because some special reasons a girl called Giselle is forced from her traditional animated world of Andalasia into the live-action world of Manhattan,New York. The witch in the movie is also trying to kill Giselle, she sets lots of traps to let Giselle die but of course she didn't success.

A very well-known example would be the witches from Harry Potter because basically, every magic-using woman was called a witch! Their terminology of a witch seems to be any woman who can use magic. Men who can use magic are called wizards, vice versa. Witches are very natural to them since they live in a world of magic. They don't think witches are evil. There are simply evil witches (or wizards). I think this really demonstrates how our conceptions depend on the society we live in. If our world was filled with magic too, then perhaps we wouldn't have so blindly persecuted every so-called witch in the past that much. We might have been more acceptable towards them.

If someone say witch, it reminds me of a witch with a pointy hat, pointy shoes, long and ugly nose, back and old gown, and black cat with odd eyes, mainly female witches. So the first witch is think of is the witch in Snow White, but in a form of a fairy tale story for children.

Since the witch from the Wizard of Oz was taken, and so were the witches from Harry Potter, the next witch I thought of was the witch from Narnia, the icy white witch. Unlike in the Wizard of Oz, despite being dressed in white and being very beautiful, she's actually evil, which kind of teaches us not to judge a book by its cover. However i still think she's pretty cool because she managed to become the boss lady of Narnia for a long time. Also, ice powers

The Three Witches in Macbeth try to make people evil by using the victim’s weakness. For example, they inform Macbeth that he will be the king. Because of these witches, Macbeth killed King Duncan, Banquo, and the family of Macduff. These witches were portrayed as old women talking next to bubbling cauldron and are commanded by witch goddess Hecate.

I think that a person has ability to use magic at that time is considered as transcendentalism by the society. Also, with that ability, that person can cause more dangerous criminal actions than a normal person, therefore the society want to get rid of magic-using people. However, I don't think people in Harry Poster are considered as typical witch because it's just a common thing for them while everyone can do that.

For my opinion, witches are those people who have supernatural power that he or she could use and make a influence on people. I don't know why people always describe the witches as bad people. Especially in literature, witches always use their power to destroy the main character's happy life. I ever read a article talking about witches and they said witches work as a fortunate teller today and some do good things for people although some witches are really bad and only curse people.

I know that the green witch from Wizard of Oz was portrayed evil and maleficent. However, in the Musical Wicked, the same witch (Elphaba) was actually portrayed as young and innocent character, only to get mistaken by Munchkins as evil witch.

Some of the witches that I can think of are a witch from the Narnia, anonymous witches that appear in the Harry Potter, the witches written by Roald Dahl. Most of the witches that are portrayed in movies or literature are antagonists or considered evil most of the time. Witches are women who practice magic or sorcery, and I don't see any bad in that. I guess literature, movies, and media played a big role in shaping an image of a witch.

Witches are often viewed as ugly, old, and an outcast who does not really communicate with other people. One example of a witch could be from the Sleeping Beauty, which in bitter response for not being invited to the celebration, the tall, horned, black-clad witch curses Aurora. he declares that the princess will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel on her sixteenth birthday and die. She then disappears in a swirl of foul purple clouds.

I could think of Hansel and Gretel. They were lured by a typical bad-looking, old witch to a cookie/candy house. In the movie, they outsmarted the witch and grew up to be witchunters. But there were 2 kinds of witches: white and bad ones.

As mentioned in another thread, the witch I think of is the witch in the Disney movie of Snow White. Whenever I hear the word witch, I think of her. She is also a generalized appearance of a witch so far. People assume a witch to be old and ugly, wearing black clothes and pointy hats who does magic. These witches are mostly evil and put the 'main character' in danger.

The White Witch in the movie "Narnia", at first she seems very pretty and nice but as story goes deeper we learn that she is the most evil person in the whole movie. I think what makes white witch evil is not just her actions and but her appearance, it's sort of deceiving, because we automatically assume if she is pretty she is good, when it's not true never judge book by it's cover. There are also witches that do good thing such as Sabrina the little witch, etc. Not all witches are good and not all witches are bad.
