Let's think of Grendel's perspective.Actually,in my thoughts I do understand why Grendel does not want to get along with those people even want to kill them.If I were Grendel,I would just attack not kill the people who are celebrating enjoyable in Herot because even thought no one knows how much pressure do I suffer and do not even know how dark is in the cave,I just want them to stopping holding any parties in the mead-hall.

To be honest, "trying to become friends with Danish people" sounds too idealistic without considering the reality. I'm confident that Grendel must have thought about it and tried to do so many times. If I were Grendel, I also must have been tempted to do harm to the Danish people. However, I would have not committed the violence just because I know that I would regret it. Killing them will definitely not satisfy my hatred. Thus I would have left the nation and moved to a different environment where I can avoid the interaction with others until my harm can be healed.

Just like others said, since Grendel is born evil, he would not choose to try to be friends with the Danes, he would just kill them and make them not to celebrate for nothing. So, for this question, "what will you do if you were Grendel", you have to think with Grendel's characteristics, background and perspective, so the answer is already had been chose.

Before I answer, I would like to talk about his personality first to make my answer look realistic.
Grendel was evil ever since he was born, and there is no reason for him to save innocent people. Some people would say that Grendel’s mother was not totally evil because she loved her child. If we think this way, he could not be totally evil. However, he and his mother are different. If he was like his mother, then it was normal for him to stop killing at some point and return to his home. If he did that, then his mother wouldn't have to worry about the revenge from people of Heorot (since revenge makes next revenge and there was no reason he should not be killed by humans).
If I were Grendel, I would kill everyone in the mead hall. Then I would kill everyone who lived in Heorot and intimidate anyone who dares to repel me. After I killed everyone in Heorot, I will take all properties and make my own kingdom. If another kingdom tries to attack me, then I will attack that kingdom. Every time people try to attack me, I will brutally kill them and show their dead bodies where many people can see. Fear of death will keep people in order and make them obey me. If I got killed by Beowulf or other heroes that were not mentioned in the book, I would be still happy because at least I died while trying to kill them (I would be happier if I killed them too).

If I was Grendel I'd not do anything, as long as I had good wifi in the cave hehe. But Grendel is a huge monster, and is probably terrifying looking, so I doubt he could just march into the mead hall and make friends. For starters, he probably wouldn't fit. Also, from a storytelling point of view, Grendel has to be the opposite of everything Beowulf is. They wouldn't be able to understand each other because they are so opposite. If Beowulf was in Grendel's situation he'd start making friends. So Grendel'd definitely do the opposite.

I think I would've done what Grendel did. Even if I was all pure and innocent from the beginning, the way people treat me would've driven me crazy. The way people look at Grendel and treat Grendel must be really tough for him. Also, the whole mudering started because he was envy of people. Grendel maybe wanted to live an ordinary and happy life just like others. I think the way the society treated Grendel resulted his psychotic behavior. Therefore, if I were Grendel, I probably would've become just like Grendel.

For me, if I were Grendel, I would've approached them and asked them politely to tune down their party or pack my things and move to another place instead of killing them suddenly without any reason.

I think that I would be just like Grendel if I was to live in a dark cave and born from evil and lived in the evil. I would rather kill the opponent before they have the chance of killing me first.

If i was strong, intimidating and powerful as Grendel and the music annoyed me, i would go and try to negotiate with them by using intimidation instead of killing people and making a mess. Maybe tell them to keep it down like normal human being does.

If I was Grendel, I think I would have done the same as Grendel did. I am easily influenced by jealousy and jealousy can easily turn into anger and destruction of one-self. Grendel watched people in the mead hall having fun all day all night, meanwhile Grendel can't join them because of his monster look and people treating him as a monster which is actually true. Also, Grendel was in a position where he had nothing to lose; this made him choose such a radical decision.

Well if we try to think rationally, it is obvious that most people will think they would act friendly if they were Grendel. But if we think in Grendel's shoes, I guess I can understand a little about him even though what he did was wrong. We all know that Grendel spent a long time alone in the dark, swampy, and cold cave from his birth. It wouldn't be strange to see anyone turn cranky from that situation. Of course, I would be mad if I was alone for a long time and everyone else is partying everyday as if it was the end of the world. I would be furious.

If I were Grendel, I might kill by myself... Because It is too hard to live alone forever for me! In addition, his neighbors which are Danes, looks like they are having a lot of fun... I must feel like so sad and loneliness. If my looking is like a monster, I could become a friend, join them and have fun together. So there is no way to become good relationship with his neighbors...
