Deciding whether Polonius is a good guy or a bad guy really depends on the perspective and how you see him. To Hamlet, Polonius is a bad guy who spies on him and makes everything worse. However, to the perspective of a neutral person, Polonius is a good father who cares for his daughter, as Hansoo mentioned.

As for me, I think polonious is a very good person. He spy his son because he love his son and hope him would not get any troube in Pairs. Although he did many bad things for Claudius, he has feeling and love his family member. Everything he do for Claudius just to help him to get a job to feed his family.

Polonius is a politics dude which i say automatically makes him a darker shade of grey than most people, and then add to that the fact that he uses his daughter for political purposes, and spies on his son, and i have to come to the conclusion that he's definitely not a nice guy. Also, from the spying scene, its hinted that he probably was a wild child in the past, but that doesn't necessarily make him evil.

I think he is a bad guy. He is very determined person but at the same time very selfish, in a way that he does nothing to reach his goals besides making others feel bad. He used his own daughter in his evil acts without even caring about how she will feel, as she ended up commiting sacrifices. He spied on Hamlet but it's not as bad as using his own daughter, additionally he is king's pet and not in a good way.

I think that Polonius is bad figure due to the purpose of the author which we can connect it to Jafar, the king adviser in "Aladdin". He always tries to depose people for his own benefit. However, i think he is a good dad because when you really care about something you just do whatever it takes to get it.

I would say that Polonius did what he was supposed to be doing as a father. From his perspective, it was natural that Polonius would worry about Ophelia and try to make her stay away from hamlet because he really loved his daughter. It's sort of a parental mind I guess.

I think he is a bad guy because he was not good father. He should have not done crazy stuff like asked spy Hamlet or like that.

Polonius is wicked guy and a creep trying to use other people to find out what he wants to know about or tell Caludius to show his devotion for him.

to be honest with you, I have no idea. One cannot judge another by one's morality just by their intention alone. As with Polonius, his intentions of taking care of his son is good, however, spying on him is a bit too far. However, does this make him a bad person? I have no idea. When we look at the side of Ophelia and how Polonius uses her as a tool, Polonius is a horrible human-being. Than, on the other side, his intentions were to bring stability to the kingdom by knowing what Hamlet was into. So it really is a hard question to answer.

I think he was bad, but also he was good father. He was a bad adviser of Claudius. But his saying to Ophelia was all for her.

I think he is a bad person but he is a good father. He is falsehearted and working for the bed king. He also betray Hamlet. However he's teach for his son is really good saying.

Despite Polonius used Ophelia to accomplish his mission, in a "fatherly" perspective I think that he is a good father, who gives good advice for both children, Laertes and Ophelia. He acts as a good father to Ophelia, because he doesn't want Hamlet to hurt her.

I think Polonius is bad because he used his daughter as a tool. He used Ophelia as a tool to find the cause of Hamlet’s madness and ordered not to meet her lover. This is not what a father should do. I feel sad for Ophelia for obeying this kind of father and not having an opportunity to speak out (because of the gender role at that time). Even though she loves Hamlet, she can no longer do so because of Polonius.

Polonius is a rat, a servant who dares to mind business to the royal family without all of the family members knowing it.

Polonius decides to spy on his son, which is something that can be seen very understandable to parents. However, in point of son this action is very wrong. This simply means you don't show any trust to your son and this causes fight between family as well. This spying action makes son uncomfortable as well when he finds it out.
