I was thinking the author wants to us tell don't judge also. Because author called the man crown but he is not crown like a what we usually think and it was a really scary crown.

Maybe the author was trying to describe how he thinks of clown punk, how prevalent people(author's kids)think of the clown punk and what is different between their thoughts. So in my own points,it could be author doesn't want us to judge other people.

All poems are really hard for me so I don't know what the author is thinking but I think he is trying to say that everyone has a part that want to hide from others. So the author wants to say that everyone has dirty part in their mind.

For me, poem is short description that compressed hard story. Poem include a lot of hard vocabularies, metaphor, and simile. By using those things, poem compress author's think or feeling. So I think poem is something that need a lot of time to understand it. Poem is just a way of expression that people can make it short by compressing a lot of stuffs

The poem uses a lot of literary elements which makes it really deep. I do not clearly know the author's main reasons for writing this poem, but I can assume that the poem is related to time and decision makings. The poem also relates to the event of that time period, so I can predict that the decision one makes during that time can affect one in the long run. I say this is the 'long run' because in the poem, the author writes 30 years, which in human life time period is quite a long time.

I think the poem is talking about the gap between the rich and the poor? Maybe the author was trying to say do not ignore or overlook the poor people.

I think what the author is trying to do is not to demand the reader to not judge people and have a certain view towards the punk. But rather, I think the author is questioning the morality of judging people based on their appearance. I agree with you in that the author tries to gain sympathy by reminding us that there are still poor streets where there are full of punks that wash windscreens. How ironic is it for people to view those punks as "clowns." Also, from the poem, he suggests the reader (speaker talking to the children in the back seat) to imagine how such man would age and look somewhat miserable. But ultimately, I think the author is showing us how he felt about certain bad situations that still don't end in this current society.

Usually when we see someone different and unusual from our society, we tend to mock or ignore them. Most people would not talk to the "clown punks" of their societies. But I think that's the reason why the author put the spotlight on this punk so that we can see him in a different light. And because we payed attention to this punk in the poem, we tend feel bad for him with the condition he is in.

I think the main message that author want the readers to understand is the permanency of decision made in youth. Just like in the story, the guy covered his body with tattoos in his youth. At that time, it might seem cool to him and make him cooler in everybody's eyes but many years later, he will be looking like a "clown" and judged as "dump" by everybody. So the young people should consider what action should they take.

I was thinking that the poem was trying to tell the readers that you cannot judge someone by their appearance or action. People might do weird actions and think differently, but that doesn't mean that they are bad people. I think that the author wants the reader to say that you can't judge a book by its cover.

While the speaker feels sympathy for the punk, I don't think that's the main point. I think that the main point the speaker was trying to get across is to not hold on to the past so tightly, because it'll leave you behind, and you'll end up being a pitiable outcast like the punk. And since the poem is called the Clown Punk, I don't actually think he sympathizes with the punk that much, since Clown is not exactly a positive term for someone.

I think what the author is trying to say is that we should be aware of our surroundings and also to realize how we act affects how we will live later on.
